Looking to the stars

Monaro High School is very excited to announce that Snowy Hydro generously accepted our application for the Snowy Hydro Local School STEM Fund. This funding program is run to support local schools in creating education initiatives that bring science, technology and mathematics to life.

After a donation of an extensive collection of astronomy resources (including a high-powered electric telescope) from a local amateur astronomer, Patrick Purcell, the school applied for the grant to gain funding to build a small observatory to house the telescope appropriately. Once in place, the Science faculty will be working to best utilise this resource with opportunities for the students and the local community to experience what it has to offer.
