Towards the end of last term, Monaro High School students participated in several sporting competitions.
Cross Country was held last term at the Cooma Golf Club. The age champions are:
12 years – Emily Payne and Smaran Kshetri Lamichhane
13 years – Grace Fallins and Toby Vincent
14 years – Isla Stockl and Gregor Dowe
15 years – Piper Fallins and Locky Miners
16 years – Reagan Stockl and Jack Ferguson
17+ years – Ammy Silva and Jeremiah Peisley
Zone cross country will be in Bega on Thursday May 15.
MHS hosted a zone volleyball competition last term. MHS had one team of girls and one of boys. The girls finished second in the zone and are off to South Coast finals. The boys finished third after two extra-time, one-point losses to the teams who finished above them. They will also head to the South Coast finals.
At Nijong Oval in Cooma last term, the Bill Turner Trophy (U15 girls football) side defeated Mulwaree High School 3-2. They will now play either Karabar or Mt Stromlo in Round 2.
The Bill Turner Cup (U15 boys football) side defeated Crookwell High 8-2. They will now play Jerrabombora in Round 2.
The MHS zone touch football teams travelled to Braidwood in Week 11 last term. They played hard all day and in the spirit of the game.
Year 7 student Emily Payne represented Monaro High School at the State Swimming Carnival last term. Emily achieved two personal bests in both her events, the 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke.
Our AIM students attended an athletics ‘come and try’ day, which they enjoyed and participated in really well.
The MHS tennis championships were held with the following students claiming the titles:

Senior girls singles – Ammy Silva Caceres

Senior boys doubles – Dylan Dwyer and Jeremiah Peisley
The Sports Committee Cup held last term was won by Year 12, with Year 7 taking out the wooden spoon.
