Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

SRC (Student Representative Council)

The SRC is the student leadership team at Monaro High School. Throughout the year they do lots of important work, representing the school and organising events for the student body.

Some of the events they organise fundraising activities for include R U OK Day, Harmony Day, Do It For Dolly and Wear It Purple Day. This is a great way for students to learn about giving back to the community and helping others.

Community Events

Our students often volunteer their time to help community groups host events.

Students are invited to attend the Cooma ANZAC Day march and ceremony where they proudly walk under the Monaro High School flag, lay a wreath at the cenotaph and often do a reading during the official ceremony.

Monaro High School students also participate in Indigenous events, such as the Reconciliation Walk and local NAIDOC celebrations.

Students also volunteer at the Cooma Show, assisting in showing members of the community around the pavilion and with setting up the displays.

Monaro High School Sports Committee also help local primary schools by volunteering as referees for their various sporting competitions.

MHS Sports Committee

The MHS Sports Committee is made up of students from all years, who have a strong interest in sport, like to have fun and are willing to assist and support other students and work as part of a team.

Sports Committee members are outstanding role models in all facets of school life.

They assist in running sporting events hosted by MHS such as zone competitions. They run lunchtime sporting competitions and activities. They assist with the running of the Sports Awards presentation night and run barbecues at other school events.
