Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Monaro High School's 'Bring Your Own Device' refers to a technology strategy where students bring a personally owned device (laptop) to school for the purpose of learning.
BYOD is optional for students in Years 7, 8 and 9 and is expected for all students in Years 10, 11 and 12.
Device minimum requirements:
- Laptop with Microsoft Windows Operating System
- Minimum 4GB RAM (more is encouraged for higher end users)
- Minimum 128GB hard drive
- Dual Band (2.4Ghz or 5Ghz) wireless access
- Minimum 11' touch screen that is stylus compatible
- At least one camera (front and rear is preferable)
- Minimum 8hr battery life
- Minimum 1 USB port
It is important to note, the Department of Education provides network access in all schools as well as necessary learning tools, e.g. Microsoft. From a software perspective, all that your child's device will need is a Windows base operating system.
